How To Heal The United States of Dysregulation

When our nervous system senses a potential threat, our sensory organs signal the brain to release key hormones, activating a series of changes in our body that prepare us for action (fight or flight). These changes are incredible; they’ve kept the human species alive. But they are meant to come on fast and strong, and then subside as a threat diminishes.  The sympathetic nervous system activates in the face of a stimulus and the parasympathetic nervous system comes online when there’s an all-clear.
